We Are 21,000 Water and Sewer Users
          It is estimated that the GCWSD serves a peak summer day population of more than 100,000 people. This represents over 29,000 water residential equivalent users and over 22,000 sewer residential equivalent users. The users of the GCWSD's water and sewer services come from diverse Georgetown communities, which include Garden City Point, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island DeBordieu, Santee, Sampit, Woodland, Penny Royal, Kent, Andrews, Pee Dee, Yauhannah, Plantersville, Dunbar, Browns Ferry, Choppee, Lanes Creek, Red Hill, Carvers Bay and Rose Hill.

We Are Seven Community Leaders Comprising the GCWSD Board of Directors
          The users of the GCWSD's services are represented by a seven member Board of Directors. These volunteers live throughout Georgetown County and are also users of the GCWSD's services. The current GCWSD Board consists of William J. Schwartzkopf, Louis R. Morant, James B. Wilkie, James H. Dunn, H.A. "Doc" Lachicotte, Jimmy Rowe and Chet Maslowski.
          These community leaders not only serve the GCWSD, but have served their communities in many other capacities through such organizations as Murrells Inlet 2007, the Georgetown County Economic Alliance, Farm Bureau, the Georgetown county Planning Commission, the Georgetown County Accommodations Tax Committee, the Andrews Revitalization Association, the Water and Sewer Regionalization Study Committee for Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg Counties; the Waccamaw Regional Economic Outlook Board, the Georgetown County Fire Department, Omar Shriners and various homeowner associations.
          GCWSD's Board Members have a broad level of life experience and come from diverse career backgrounds. Board Members include a retired military officer, a retired national automobile executive, a real estate developer, an attorney, a regional planner, a retail business owner and a construction equipment rental service owner.

We Are 76 Dedicated Employees
          The majority of the GCWSD's employees live in Georgetown County and are users of GCWSD services. This highly talented and educated group includes registered professional engineers, registered land surveyors, 8 certified water plant operators, 6 certified sewer plant operators, 15 college graduates, 3 masters level graduates and 11 technical college graduates. These employees have received numerous awards including:

          - The United States EPA Municipal Water Use Efficiency Award;
          - The American Water Works Association 5 Year Director's Award Partnership for Safe
             Water;
          - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC)
             Drinking Water Optimization Award;
          - The United States EPA Safe Water Act Excellence Award;
          -  Family Friendly Employer Certification.
