Q. What are the payment methods for my water bill?
A .
Q. What do I need to do to establish service in my name?
A.
When purchasing or renting a home the water/sewer service must be transferred to the new owner/renters name. An application for service must be filled out and the transfer fees paid. Applications can be obtained at our offices or downloaded from our web site. You may also contact our customer service department (843-546-8408) for more information about fees and the application process.
Q. Why is my bill higher than usual?
A. Monthly water bills can increase for a variety of reasons:
Not all leaks make puddles on the floor or are otherwise obvious. Many leaks go undetected until you notice an increase in your water bill. To check for possible leaks, look at the face of your water meter. There is a triangle shaped button. With nothing currently on in the house (ie dish washer running or someone in shower) the triangle shaped button should be still. If it is rotating this shows there is water passing through the meter, which may indicate a leak.
Q. Can I get an adjustment on my bill?
A. Certain leaks or situations may qualify for an adjustment. You must complete an adjustment request form provided by the District. All related documentation such as plumber’s bill or receipts for parts purchased must also be attached. Your request will then be reviewed for a possible adjustment. During the review process you are required to keep your account current.
